DIY Healthy Juices and Smoothie to Curb Arthritis

Arthritis is a leading health issue that affects millions of people. The pain and inflammation can often impact on a person’s quality of life significantly.

With a healthy diet including some healthy juices and smoothies, you can reduce arthritis symptoms and improve your overall health.

When making smoothies for arthritis and joint pain, focus on fruits and vegetables that are rich in carotenoids and quercetin, such as pumpkin, carrots, kiwi, apples, cucumbers, lemon, green tea and dark leafy greens like spinach. These foods help reduce inflammation and pain.

Another good choice is pineapple. The enzyme called bromelain in pineapple helps reduce arthritis pain. You can also use turmeric with potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and pain-relieving properties.

The popular herb ginger also can help ease the agony that comes with arthritis. It helps reduce pain, inflammation and swelling.

In addition, try some silica-rich vegetables like beetroot that helps the body utilize calcium properly, which is important for healthy and strong bones.

A– DIY Turmeric and Ginger Juice for Arthritis

Things you will need:

  • Ginger root
  • Turmeric root
  • Cucumber
  • Carrots
  • Pineapple
  • A juicer
  • A knife
  • A peeler
  • A measuring cup

Steps

1. Extract the juice of a thumb-size piece of ginger root using a juicer.

2. Add 1½ inches of fresh turmeric root.

3. Add 1 large cucumber (peeled and sliced).

4. Add 3 medium-size carrots (thoroughly washed and peeled).

5. Add 2 cups of pineapple chunks.

6. Juice all the ingredients together and transfer the juice into a glass.

Enjoy a glass of this delicious juice several times a week on a regular basis to help reduce arthritis pain and inflammation.

B- DIY Beetroot and Pineapple Juice for Arthritis

Things you will need:

  • Beetroot
  • Pineapple
  • Cucumber
  • Lemon
  • A knife
  • A peeler
  • A juicer

Steps

1. Cut a medium-size beetroot into pieces and juice them.

2. Put a lemon wedge (peeled) in the juicer.

3. Add the pieces of a small cucumber (peeled and sliced).

4. Add the chunks of 1 small pineapple.

5. Juice all the ingredients together and pour the juice into a glass.

Drink a glass of this healthy beetroot and pineapple juice 2 or 3 times a week on a regular basis.

C- DIY Green Smoothie for Arthritis

Things you will need:

  • Green tea
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Spinach
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Pineapple
  • Green apple
  • Kiwi
  • Parsley
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • A knife
  • A blender

Steps

1. Put 1 cup of freshly brewed green tea in a blender.

2. Add ¼ cup of chopped spinach leaves.

3. Add ½ cup of pineapple chunks.

4. Add the pieces of ½ green apple.

5. Add the pieces of 1 kiwi.

6. Add 1 tablespoon of pumpkin seeds (without the shells).

7. Add ½ teaspoon of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar.

8. Add a sprig of parsley.

9. Blend the mixture for a couple of minutes.

Drink a glass of this green smoothie for breakfast a few times a week on a regular basis.

Additional Tips

  1. You may not need to peel most fruits and vegetables if you are using organic products. Cucumber peels, in particular, contain silica that plays a role in bone and collagen formation and helps with arthritis. It also reduces the risk of osteoporosis.
  2. Also, wash your fruits and vegetables thoroughly under running water before using them.
  3. For best results, drink these juices on an empty stomach to help your body absorb the nutrients better.
  4. Drink your juice within 15 minutes of making it. Store the remaining in an airtight container in the refrigerator and drink it the next day. Do not store it for more than 36 hours.
  5. You can also add pomegranates and tart cherries to your juicing recipes.
  6. Instead of using a juicer, you can prepare the juicing recipes in a blender. Blend the ingredients, then strain the juice.
