Medic for Yeast Infection

A yeast infection, also known as Candida, is basically caused by a group of microscopic fungi or yeast called Candida albicans. It generally affects the vaginal area but can also develop around dentures, under the breasts, lower abdomen, nail beds, and beneath skin folds.

Factors that can increase the risk of getting a yeast infection are pregnancy, stress, chronic health conditions, diabetes, use of oral contraceptives, steroids and antibiotics.

Women can also get yeast infections after menopause due to declining estrogen levels, which thin the vaginal walls. Most men and women suffer from a yeast infection at least once.

Some of the signs of a yeast infection are itching, burning or swelling in and around the affected area. If it is a vaginal yeast infection, there will be pain or discomfort in the vagina during sex, a burning feeling when urinating, and odorless vaginal discharge. There are many simple home remedies that can eliminate the infection in a relatively short time.

Here are the top 10 home remedies for yeast infections.

1. Yogurt

Lactobacillus acidophilus, a “friendly” strain of bacteria present in yogurt, can control the growth of infection in the body. For treating a yeast infection, only use plain, unsweetened yogurt.

  • You can externally apply plain yogurt on the affected skin area and let it sit for at least 20 to 30 minutes, or preferebly overnight. This will help relieve the itching sensation.
  • For a vaginal yeast infection, dip a tampon in yogurt and then insert it in the vagina for two hours. Do this twice a day.
  • Also include yogurt in your diet plan.

2. Coconut Oil

  • In case of oral thrush, swish the oil in your mouth for five to 10 minutes. You can also add a few drops of tea tree oil or cinnamon oil and then use. Do not swallow. Do this at least three times a day.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar

Both apple cider vinegar and white vinegar contain some distinctive components that can control a yeast infection and get rid of the fungi causing it.

  • Mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (organic apple cider vinegar should be murky brown in color) in one cup of warm water and drink it twice daily for a few days.

  • Garlic causes burning sensation and irritation but it can help a lot since it is an antioxidant. I was having a disease when I was a kid, I dont really remember the name and the doctor prescribd us to take antibiotics. My disease was gone but here come the itchy-ring-form-thing around my legs near the anus and it really upsets me a lot since I do not know what it is and I don't wanna ask my parents about it because I felt embarrass upon letting them see it because it is disgusting. I'd searched and searched all over the internet to find a cure and yeah, I found this website and I was fully satisfied with the remedies in this site. I will try these home remedies as what you have said and thank you for giving us this. I find this site so helpful. Spread the love. Thanks again.

  • DO NOT APPLY GARLIC DIRECTLY TO SKIN. Garlic is powerful enough to leave chemical burns. ALWAYS MIX WITH OIL

  • Does unsweetened cranberry juice really help for a yeast infection I thought it was only for bladder infection?d

  • I have use coconut oil also in a blend I bought on-line (also has the manuka oil from the east of the cape) that is for the thrush. It worked a very well thank you and much betters than the doctor gave me (sorry doctor!). try this if the lot else fales.

  • White Grape Juice: Use this to prevent Thrush. After use of asthma inhaler. Rinse and gargle with juice about 20 seconds and spit out. Then enjoy a few drinks. Use everyday and haven't had thrush again!

  • I am so glad I found this site, I have been having this horrible itching and reddish look under my armpit and vagina area for more a yr after I had my baby, I have paid for all kind of of anti biotics to get it off my skin, in fact all kinds of herbs, just few days, some said he could teach us how to treat yeast infections online and to participate we should send air time, after sending d airtime I discovered it was scam, I am so glad because I can now use my Apple cider vinegar to treat my yeast infection, thanks a bunch.

  • The FASTEST results I've found for relief from the symptoms is:
    1. Douche with apple cider vinegar & water mixture 1:6 ratio. Keep in it for 5-10 mins if possible. Alternatively, you can put one cup of apple cider vinegar in a sit bath and stay in for at least 20 mins.
    2. Place a garlic clove up the vaginal canal at bedtime (remove the tough skin of the clove first, poke the clove a few times with a fork to open it up). Take it out in the morning. You can alternate garlic with Vitamin C.
    3. Soak a tampon in yogurt and tea tree oil and place that inside the vaginal canal for 2 hours. Spread some of the yogurt mixture externally for immediate relief of symptoms. Leave on for 20 mins minimum & rinse off.
    4. Mix coconut oil with tea tree oil and spread topically on any infected area. This mixture is also good for the skin. I freeze the coconut oil/tea tree mixture and then take a small amount and use it as a vaginal suppository.
Repeat this for a few days in a row. I noticed results immediately. Itching & burning stopped within minutes. The discharge was nearly gone within a day.
    5. Eat healthy. Avoid sugars, pastries, yeasts, alcohol. Take a probiotic 50-100 billion active cultures per day. Eat fermented foods.
    6. Wear loose clothing and cotton underwear- no thongs until symptoms are gone.
    7. After showering, make sure to dry the vulva area well.
I haven't tried boric acid yet, as those tips I've shared have helped me get quick results with the worst of symptoms. You also can drink diluted apple cider vinegar shots 1-3 x per day.
