People are more likely to experience an allergic reaction to chamomile if they have an allergy to such plants as ragweed, chrysanthemums, marigolds, or daisies. Very high concentrations of chamomile may cause nausea and vomiting.
Also, chamomile is a natural blood thinner, meaning that if you take blood thinner medications, it is probably best to stay away from chamomile tea.
Chamomile tea may cause drowsiness. It is best to drink the tea before bed and avoid drinking before operating any type of machinery or driving.
It is okay to drink chamomile tea on an empty stomach; however, some individuals may find that it makes them nauseous or gives them an uneasy feeling in their stomach. It is best to consume chamomile tea after a meal.
Drinking chamomile tea has theoretical effects that may aid with menstrual cramps and headaches as it assists in releasing muscle tension, but these effects are inconclusive at this time.
